Gimme a break

Posted: Wednesday, September 17, 2008
Out of 3,500 oil platforms in the Texas Gulf area, Ike destroys 10 of them, and gas goes to $5 a gallon. That translates into .0028 percent of the platforms destroyed. We can thank our lucky stars it was not a hundred destroyed or gas could have gone to $50 a gallon. Gimme a break!

" Something I've come to realize about the oil companies as well as the local gas stations is they will use ANY excuse to raise prices and ANY excuse to NOT lower them.

When gas prices took a big jump to over $4/gal market analysis blamed it on high crude oil prices. Now that the bubble has burst and crude oil prices are in a free fall yet the gas prices at the pump only trickle down now market analysis say pump prices have very little to do with crude oil prices and now blame high pump prices on our nations refining capacity.

My point is they ALWAYS have an EXCUSE for high gas prices. "

" Ok, maybe I am off the subject, but when people complain that there are no bananas at the produce section because a semi broke down, please remember that alot of Texans are out of a home, short of food, don't have hot water or electricity and wonder if those jobs will be available once the building get rebuilt! Paying a bit more for gas? Get real. "

" The stock market has a gallon @ $2.38 then you just add on transportation costs, taxes, & overhead. Should be under $3.00/gallon at least. "

" Not much you can do when Democrats in the House are voting today on their Energy Bill. All drilling 0-50 miles offshore -CLOSED. Drilling 50-100 miles offshore - up to each state, but no revenue sharing with the states (THAT MEANS THE STATES HAVE NO INCENTIVE TO ALLOW DRILLING) you have spell things out for socialist sometimes. 100 miles offshore - Drill to your hearts content. (WAIT, WHAT DO YOU MEAN THERE NO INFRASTUCTURE IN PLACE TO GET OIL 100 MILES OUT INTO THE REFINERIES ??? Damn, that sucks. Oh well, what about the Eastern coastal drilling? Nope, no way Jose, that's where all those liberals vacation and NIMBY. Then lets go get some of that oil shale out west. OK, but it's up to each state and they get ZERO Revenue sharing. Dang it, no incentive there either. Have no fear, Nancy Pelosi is here. They are cool with $10 million dollars for bike riders, 2.6 Billion for Green Bonds, and a tapping into the strategic oil preserve. But this is all GW Bush's fault, right Helpless, notabeleiver, lefty. Can't blame nancy, she's saving the world. "
