SB-L, boys, EP-J girls win titles at Woodbury Central cross country meet

MOVILLE, Iowa -- A tiebreaker was used to determine the champion in the varsity boys division at Tuesday's Woodbury Central cross country invitational held at Meadows Golf Course.
Sergeant Bluff-Luton and Maple Valley-Anthon-Oto were tied with 52 points. However, SB-L claimed the title because its sixth runner, Kenneth Tysick, placed 25th while MV-A-O's sixth runner, Cody Conover, finished 33rd.
Garrett Ehlers of Battle Creek-Ida Grove won the boys meet in 17:35. Ehlers, a second-place finisher in the Class B division of last Saturday's Galva-Holstein Invitational, was a winner by three seconds over Damian Brand of Sergeant Bluff-Luton, while SB-L's Devon Rook was third in 17:44.
Elk Point-Jefferson's girls ran away with the title, outscoring Maple Valley-Anthon-Oto 36-107. EP-J's Bobbie McLaury was first in 17:21, Mackenzie Smith of Sergeant Bluff-Luton was second (17:28) and Kaysi Byers of River Valley took third (17:37).
