Thurston County workers, bills to get paid
Posted: Tuesday, September 23, 2008
PENDER, Neb. -- The Thurston County Board of Supervisors voted Monday at a special meeting to pay the county's employees and bills.
The Thurston County Clerk's Office said the vote was unanimous and that all members were present except for Paul Don Snowball, of Winnebago, Neb. It was the only item on the board's agenda.
Officials scrambled to schedule the special meeting after Supervisors Darren Wolfe, of Macy, Neb., and Snowball walked out of the board's regular meeting Sept. 16 in a dispute over Native American Day, leaving the seven-member board without the quorum of five needed to proceed with remaining business items, including approving the county's payroll and other bills.
