Dordt will host Christian Educators' Convention

SIOUX CENTER, Iowa -- The annual Heartland Christian Educators' Convention will take place Oct. 2 and 3 on the Dordt College campus in Sioux Center. More than 450 educators from Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska and South Dakota are expected to attend.

This year's theme is "The Garden of His Delight," with two keynotes on this topic by Professor David Smith who also serves as director of the Kuyers Institute for Christian Teaching and Learning.

The first keynote address will be delivered at 9:15 a.m. Oct. 2 in B.J. Haan Auditorium and the second at 10:45 a.m. Oct. 3. Both keynote addresses and sessions on discipline and inclusion are open to the public. There will be no cost to attend.

"Inclusion" focuses on including children with special needs, disabilities or unique learning processes into the classroom. "Discipline" will aim to teach productive and grace-filled discipline in classrooms, for any student with any background.
