Neb. county treasurer facing more allegations

HASTINGS, Neb. (AP) -- New allegations have emerged in a case against the Adams County treasurer charged this week with tax evasion.
The State Auditor's Office has turned up evidence Julia Moeller was making short-term loans to herself using county funds. The loans were as large as $8,000 at a time.
State Auditor Mike Foley says even if the money was paid back, he is stunned with the lack of principle in her actions.
Foley also is unsure why Moeller was allowed to go delinquent 10 years on property taxes owing more than $2,000 without consequences.
Moeller and her daughter Michelan Parr were charged this week for allegedly evading taxes on a motor home Moeller bought. Parr also works for the county.
