Sanborn grain elevator back at full capacity following explosion

SANBORN, Iowa -- The Farmers Coop Society's grain elevator, rocked by an explosion in April, has been repaired and back receiving grain at full capacity, the coop announced.

The April 3 blast damaged the elevator's grain receiving legs, slowing down the amount of grain that the elevator could receive. No one was injured in the explosion.

''Repairs are fully made and we are doing business as normal...'' Jeff Holtz, eastern division manager for Farmers Coop Society, said in a statement.

Completion of the work comes just in time for the big rush of the local corn harvest, approaching within the next two weeks.

Although the repairs to the grain elevator are complete, construction still continues on a fertilizer plant being constructed on site, and expected to be completed towards the end of fall.

Sanborn, an O'Brien County of about 1,300, is located about 10 miles east of Sheldon.
