Praise for Sioux City police

SIOUX CITY -- It was just a mattter of time before someone wrote a Letter to the Editor about the recent high-speed chase which resulted in the death of a woman with four children.
All our Sioux City policemen and women are all well-educated, in the classroom and in the field. When they receive their badge, it is because they are ready to be out there to protect us. They have a very qualified man at the helm who is doing a great job of leadership, protecting us and directing them. Now, think of it this way. At 1 in the morning someone is driving down the street - reckless and speeding. Does the driver wear a sign saying, "I am a mom with four kids"? No. Why did she speed up when the policeman had his lights going on top of his car? They are not there for decoration. You are supposed to stop and pull over when you see them. The police are the law. You obey - period.
This officer did shut down, knowing the danger. He did just what he is trained to do.
We are so lucky in Sioux City, and I am very proud of all the members of our police department. Also, we have a great fire department. Let's count our blessings. -- Patty Beyer

I hope The Journal soon publishes the identity of the Unnamed Cop who contributed to Cassie's death, so that he can be brought to justice. "

Did you comprehend it?? Stop repeating yourself over and over again. This is my last post to you, because you refuse to take your blinders off and spew the same garbage in every post you make. Hope the school district you teach for catches up with you soon. "

I have quoted the SCPD policy and I've done it more than once. The policy prohibits pursuing a minor traffic offender. That offender, according to the policy, should be ticketed or charged later. Had this reckless Unnamed Cop followed policy Cassie would likely be alive today.
What is this reckless cop's name? Why do The Journal and the SCPD refuse to reveal it? "

Remember the old saying "Misery Loves Company". "
Diogenes wrote on Oct 20, 2008 5:50 PM:
A reckless Unnamed Cop clocked Cassie at slightly more than 50 mph. She was, in fact, speeding. Speeding was the reason for the cop's pursuit. He was not pursuing Cassie for DUI or anything else. He was pursuing her for speeding. Speeding is a minor traffic offense.
Here is the policy of SCPD, according to SCPD's Lt. Reilly:
"Sioux City Police Department policy doesn't allow police officers to pursue those who refuse to stop for a minor traffic offense or who pull away after being stopped, Reilly said. However, officers will get a license plate number and a description of the driver so that person can be ticketed or charged later, he said."
Now read that again. Try to understand the policy.
This reckless Unnamed Cop, in fact, pursued Cassie in violation of SCPD policy. This reckless Unnamed Cops violated SCPD pursuit policy when he failed to ticket or charge her later.
Do you understand now?
What is this reckless cop's name? "
