East girls get season bests at Johnston

JOHNSTON, Iowa -- Elizabeth Cvrk's 10th-place time of 2:14.73 in the 200 freestyle was the best finish for East's girls swimming team at Saturday's Johnston Invitational.
It was one of 11 season-best times and performances for Coach Bryan Farris' Black Raiders at the meet. Cvrk got another season best with an 11th-place 6:04.66 in the 500 freestyle and teammate Nellie Rorris followed in 12th with a season-best 6:09.11.
Johnston won the meet with 392 points. Ames was second with 329 points and was followed by Carroll (235.5), Marshalltown (235), Lewis Central (95.5), Southeast Polk (66), Grinnell (23), East (12) and Council Bluffs Abraham Lincoln (4).
East will compete at Carroll Tuesday, then host Spencer on Thursday.
