OMAHA, Neb. (AP) -- State parks officials have ended a search for a mountain lion on the northern edge of Omaha.
Nebraska Game and Parks officials called off the search Monday night, about two hours after it began.
Two Omaha police officers and two animal control officers from the Nebraska Humane Society say they spotted what looked like a mountain lion. Officers on the scene say the animal ran into some nearby woods but they couldn't locate it.
Mark Langan of the Humane Society says officials got a half dozen calls from residents who reported they saw the big cat.
If found, officials say the mountain lion would be killed or tranquilized and transported to a zoo or refuge.
