Domestic Violence Awareness Month Vigil set Oct. 23

The Council on Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence will sponsor its annual Domestic Violence Awareness Month Vigil from 6 to 7 p.m. Oct. 23 in the Gleeson Room of the Wilbur Aalfs Library.
The Council on Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence will sponsor its annual Domestic Violence Awareness Month Vigil from 6 to 7 p.m. Oct. 23 in the Gleeson Room of the Wilbur Aalfs Library.
Purpose of the vigil is to honor those killed in acts of domestic violence in the past year, support the survivors of intimate partner violence and bring together those working to end it.
The vigil will include a speech by a survivor, silent witnesses and the clothes line project which features shirts made by survivors of intimate partner violence and their children.
The Council on Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence provides services to victims of dating violence, domestic violence, sexual assault and their children in a five-county area which includes Woodbury, Plymouth and Monona counties in Iowa; Union County in South Dakota and Dakota County in Nebraska.
