Pipeline task force to meet Oct. 23

Posted: Wednesday, October 15, 2008
PIERRE, S.D. n The South Dakota Underground Pipeline Task Force will meet for a third time at 9 a.m. on Oct. 23, at the Matthew Environmental Education and Training Center in Pierre. It will report its finding to Gov. Mike Rounds by Dec. 1.

The agenda includes informational presentations related to the state’s Regulated Substance Response Fund, mineral severance tax, pipeline incident cost data, and petroleum spills in South Dakota.

The seven-person task force was authorized by the 2008 Legislature to review the status of existing and proposed pipelines in South Dakota and assess the adequacy of state laws and regulations relating to those pipelines. Underground pipelines being reviewed by the task force include those used for the transmission and distribution of crude oil, water, natural gas, ethanol, and refined petroleum products.
