Materialistic, greedy Americans are to blame

ONAWA, Iowa -- Where do we need to look for the source of this financial mess this country is in? The government has been blamed for all our problems, and yes they play a part, but not because they are supposed to prevent crises. They cannot prevent what is by nature man. For the problem for which we tend to put the blame on others is our own. It is the everyday citizen who has control of the economy. It is we who spend more than we make, going into debt for the things we really do not need but want.
We are a very materialistic country. We are rich and complain when we have to struggle. We need to remember how this country was formed. It came into being through sacrifice, sweat, tears and brotherly sharing with those in need. We are now a country who says give me, I deserve it, and I do not want to suffer to get it.
Self-centered, greedy America, repent and remember the words of one of our presidents: "Do not ask what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country." Return to the sacrifice and pain of our forefathers and suppress the greed that is destroying this country.
Start at home, but also with your vote. Do not send any more tax-and-spend politicians to the state or federal government. Remember, it is Congress that spends, the president only suggests.
I am voting for John McCain, who will seek to end the corrupt overspending in government. -- Gary Van Dyk

Do you look forward to coming home at night so you can hit the board to impersonate me?
Do you stop by the store to pick up brew for the occasion? "
