Obama: The potential for harm
Posted: Friday, October 17, 2008
SIOUX CITY -- If Sen. Obama gets his way and can deliver to his supporters, we’re all going to “hope” we have some “change” left in our pockets. If he had any substantial solutions or answers to the problems that face this country I would be willing to consider him as a viable candidate. With a majority of his party in the House and Senate this guy has the potential to do a lot of harm to this country, domestically and internationally.
His philosophy of what government can and should do for the people sounds like European socialism to me. It may work there (albeit not very well), but we’ve got 300 million people plus another 12 million or so that we pretend not to know about to feed in this country. The issues that Obama raised to start his campaign - Iraq, health care, the conduct of the war on terror and energy policy - have all been overtaken by events of the financial crisis caused by unsound lending practices by institutions that have House and Senate oversight by his supporters and fellow Democrats.
If he gets his way on health care that will be one mess that no one can fix. Once that is packaged as an entitlement like Social Security we’ll never be able to take that back and the funding for it will have exponential growth until we can’t pay for anything else.
If he is elected, he will be tested by some not-so-friendly countries and organizations that want to see how far our country can be pushed. -- George Koetters
