Inmate loses $1M lawsuit in sex case

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) -- A Nebraska inmate has lost his lawsuit against a prison administrator who punished him for having sex with a caseworker.
Jack Harris sued Doug Diltz, claiming he suffered mental anguish from being in solitary confinement for four months in 2005. He had sought $1 million in damages.
A two-day jury trial concluded Friday, with U.S. Magistrate David Piester ruling against Harris. He did not send the case to the jury because he ruled there was not enough evidence in Harris' favor.
The 37-year-old Harris testified that he had a five-month affair with caseworker Darcy Oliver out of fear. He said he shouldn't have been punished.
Oliver was sentenced to six months in jail for the relationship.
Harris is serving a life sentence at the Tecumseh State Correctional Institution.
