By Mark C. Johnson, Journal correspondent | Posted: Sunday, October 19, 2008
STORM LAKE, Iowa -- United Bank of Iowa, with 16 branches in west central Iowa, has moved into a newly constructed building at 1270 Lake Ave. in Storm Lake.

"We opened our temporary location in Storm Lake on Flindt Drive in May 2007 and we say 'thank you' to the citizens and businesses in the Storm Lake area," said Jake Schable, assistant vice president and office manager. He added, "We are happy to become a part of Storm Lake's business community,"

The new structure is around 5,000 square feet and has two drive-up windows, a drive-up ATM, three teller windows inside, two offices that mostly deal with deposits, four offices for loan officers, a conference room, an employee break room, an office for the teller staff and a spacious lobby.

"Working with all the contractors and suppliers to construct a new building has been a great experience, however, I'm ready to get settled into a routine and focus more on banking and building relatonships with customers," Schable added.

According to Ag Lender magazine, United Bank of Iowa, including all the branches, has been ranked as Iowa's number one ag bank for four years.

In addition to the new Storm Lake branch, there are other branches in Arthur, Carroll, Charter Oak, Churdan, Denison, Fort Dodge, Glidden, Harlan, Ida Grove, Kiron, Lake City, Lohrville, Odeboldt, Rockwell City and Schleswig.

Hours of the Storm Lake branch are 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. until noon Saturay. Drive-up hours are 8 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. until noon Saturday. For more information, call (712) 732-1620 or log-on to www.unitedbk.com.
