GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (AP) -- Grand Island should have eastbound air service by the middle of December.
Central Nebraska Regional Airport Executive Director Mike Olson says Great Lakes Aviation last week set the new projected start date of service from Grand Island to Kansas City, Mo.
The service was supposed to have started in early October, but Great Lakes has encountered delays in acquiring aircraft for the flights.
Grand Island last had eastbound service June 29. That's when Essential Air Service-contract carrier Mesa Airlines ended its eastbound flights to Kansas City due to financial shortfalls.
