OGALLALA, Neb. (AP) -- The first major winter storm of the season could be moving through the state this week.
The National Weather Service in North Platte says a storm should begin dropping freezing rain turning into 4 to 12 inches of snow beginning late Tuesday.
The storm is expected to stick around through Thursday morning, bringing high winds that could make travel treacherous across the state.
The central part of the state could get hit hardest. Forecasters say the storm will stall there before moving to the east and south on Thursday.
Ogallala could see 8 inches of snow, while North Platte could see up to 10 inches. Southern areas will likely see no more than 4 inches.
