St. Albert wins in 1A cross country

HOLSTEIN, Iowa -- Council Bluffs St. Albert claimed both the boys and girls team titles Monday in a Class 1A regional cross county meet here.

The top three teams and top 10 individuals qualified for the state meet in Fort Dodge.

Jake Vonnahme of Ar-We-Va was the individual boys winner in 16:48.15 over 5,000 meters and Abby Schlater of St. Albert was the individual girls winner in 15:38.00 over 4,000 meters.

Battle Creek-Ida Grove and Laurens-Marathon ran second and third in the boys meet, while West Sioux and Galva-Holstein were second and third, respectively, in the girls competition.
