MITCHELL, S.D. (AP) -- A Mitchell father and two sons pleaded no contest and were sentenced on misdemeanor charges for a fight with a black Dakota Wesleyan University basketball player.
Gary Bussmus pleaded no contest to simple assault and will serve 10 days in jail and pay a $1,000 fine. He also can't drink alcohol for a year, go to anger management class and has to take part in the 24-7 Breathalyzer program for two months.
Son Kyle Bussmus pleaded no contest to resisting arrest and was fined $500 and Jonathan Bussmus pleaded no contest to disorderly conduct and was fined $200.
All three might also have to pay restitution, depending on the outcome of a federal civil lawsuit filed by the victim, Ike Muoneke (moh-neh-KAY'), who says the fight was racially motivated.
