COLUMBUS, Neb. (AP) -- A 26-year-old Columbus woman will spend some time in jail and have to repay the more than $29,000 she stole while working at a real estate and construction company.
Kim Covert was given 165 days in jail and 3 1/2 years of probation.
Authorities say she took the money over 2006 and 2007 while working as office manager for Becher-Curry Co.
She had pleaded guilty to theft by unlawful taking.
Authorities say she wrote company checks and deposited them in her person account. She used for money for a variety of personal expenses, including credit card payments and her share of a funeral bill for her father.
