Vote your conscience

Posted: Sunday, November 02, 2008
SIOUX CITY -- Barack Obama is the candidate most favored by the media. I agree that he is likeable, intelligent and charismatic. I understand the excitement of having an African-American president, However, I have great concerns regarding this man becoming the leader of the free world. He is the most extreme pro-abortion candidate ever to seek the office of president. He is also the most extreme pro-abortion legislator ever to serve in the United States Congress.

When he served in the Illinois Legislature, Barack opposed the ban on partial birth abortion. Obama also opposed legislation to protect children who are born alive, either as the result of surviving an abortion or the deliberate delivery of a baby prior to viability.

My question is this: Do we want our next president to be someone who doesn't respect all human life, especially those who cannot speak for themselves? I urge you to vote your conscience. -- Stephanie Audino

" Because Obama voted against unconstitutional bills proposing bans on abortion with no exceptions for the life and health of the mother does not make him the "most pro-abortion candidate ever." He took an oath to uphold the constitution and voted in accordance with that oath. Let's tell the complete story about these votes. Like it or not, Roe v. Wade and its progeny are the law of the land. "

" I don't think you will make much headway in convincing anyone here. The Republican party has used the abortion issue to get elected and gain access to the nation's coffers. Now after paying in over $10 "TRILLION" they still haven't made the connection that Republicans have more interest in continuing abortions than Democrats. "

" No one in good conscience could vote for John McCain. "

" Yah Jon, what part of Roe vs Wade and the 14th amendment don't YOU get? It was settled in 1973 by The United States Supreme Court. 35 years later and you still think you're going to get it overturned? McCain says he's anti-abortion, you believe him and vote for him, that's where it ends...period...he got your vote. Basically you got used, for 35 years one candidate tells you what you want to here, you vote for them and nothing changes! Hows that been working out for you??? "

" Stephanie, you spoke the right words at the right time, thank you. We have a lot of work to do, but first we must elect McCain/Palin and then we can finish the job of educatin our young people so that they do not someday in the future regret what they have done. Also, Stephanie, I am sure you are related to my shipmate on the U.S.S. Shaw DD 373 during World War II in the South Pacific Theater of War. Thanks again Stephanie, you are on the right track. "
