The traditional Brothers Grimm version of a young maiden who flees the wicked queen of a kingdom and is assisted by seven vertically-challenged guys to connect with her Prince is told in the next musical on the Lamb Productions stage, with some new twists.

The story of "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs," presents the talents of 16 Lamb School students, ranging in age from 7 to 17.

Snow White (Sarah Wrenn) escapes from the castle of her stepmother, the wicked Queen (Lauren Meis) and happens upon the cottage of the Seven Dwarfs (Erik Danner, Michael Danner, David Meis, Levi Swan, Noah VanEldik, Ben Wigton and Seton Warren). The Queen's life-size Walking Talking Mirror (Reed Saunders) causes trouble for all involved, while the Prince (Chase Shoemaker), the Cat (Mallory Zook) and the Enchanted Vixen (Dani Tumpkin) all strive to make a happy-ever-after ending for this fairy tale.

There are a few alterations from the animated Disney version which audience members may be familiar with, said Diana Wooley who directs the musical.

For instance, the queen (Lauren Meis) transforms herself through her evil magic into a cute little girl, played by Elizabeth Paz," she explained. "When that transformation doesn't accomplish what it is supposed to, she transforms herself into an ugly old crone, played by Emily Dorsett."

This adaptation will not have the popular songs from the Disney film, such as "Someday, My Prince Will Come," "Heigh-Ho" or "Whistle While You Work." In addition to a variety of upbeat tunes, the prince instead sings a duet with Snow White and the seven dwarfs sing, "Howdy Do!," a song that features a light-hearted, funny dance.

Another change from the Disney version is the names of the Seven Dwarfs. They include: Sarge, Gloomy Gus, Snore, Spritely, Ticklish, Slowpoke, and Gabby, Wooley said.

"I thought that this might be an obstacle for an audience to get over since we are so accustomed to the Disney version, but after working on this clever script, I know my initial thoughts were unwarranted," she said. "These names really fit."
