Nothing in it for him

Posted: Sunday, November 16, 2008
SIOUX CITY -- I have done it all wrong for 35 years. I have worked all those years, paid off my mortgage, have no credit card debt, and did not get myself overextended financially. Now as a taxpayer I have to pay for the people who got loans for houses they could not afford in the first place, others that ran up excessive credit card debt, and the banks that gave them the loans and credit cards in the first place.

And what am I going to get for it? You guessed it. -- Thomas Beller

" Hitler was a socialist about as much as Stalin was a capitalist. Yes, the official name for the Nazis was the National Socialist German Worker's Party, but then again, the official name for North Korea is the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. Does that mean they're actually a Democracy? Anyone who thinks Hitler and Mussolini were leftists don't know anything about history OR politics. Hitler went to war to defeat leftism. Nice try, though. "

" Kevin Kline, you should perhaps seek a better education. Fascism is a peculiararity of the socialist left. Hitler, a person greatly admired by Keith, and Mussolini were both Socialists. "

" The next few years are going to spell the demise of the Republican party as the full effects of their "trickle down" economic policies become apparent. Obscene wealth and excess concentrated at the top of society...

You seem to forget Keith, that the richest men in the World are Liberal Democrats, that the richest men in the United States are Liberal Democrats, that the richest ment in Government are Liberal Democrats. "

" Pariah - I should have said "the demise of the CURRENT Republican party". I agree that we need a system of checks and balances in our government. What we don't need is a system of factions so protective of their own that they are willing to defend destructive actions. Every time Bush ran into any criticism the party circled the wagons around him and blockaded any action in our government.

Many of the problems facing our country are going to have to be unraveled to their source to effectively deal with them. If that means investigations and embarrassment to Bush or other Republicans the party should let it happen and use the information to serve as a "what not to do" for their rebuilding process. "
