1 dead in Cedar Rapids apartment fire

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (AP) -- One person is dead in an apartment house fire in Cedar Rapids.
Officials say firefighters pulled an elderly man out of the second floor of the burning building late Monday night. Authorities say the man was taken to the hospital, where he later died.
His name was not immediately released.
The fire was reported shortly after 10 p.m. Officials say the three-story house was divided into eight rental units. Eleven other people escaped the fire, and none of them was hurt.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
