Angela Rae Semple

BLACK HAWK, S.D. -- Angela Rae Semple, 34, of Black Hawk passed away at Rapid City Regional Hospital Thursday, Nov. 13, 2008.

Services were held Nov. 18 at the Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home, Black Hawk. Burial was in Mountain View Cemetery, Black Hawk. Friends may sign her on-line guest register at www.osheimschmidt.com.

Angela was born Dec. 26, 1973 to Larry and Debra (Newman) Semple. She grew up in Rapid City and Pawley's Island, S.C., graduating from high school in South Carolina in 1991. Angela then attended the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, where she worked for several years in the financial aid office and attended classes. She received her B.A. degree in history and English in 2002. Angela then moved to Black Hawk and continued her education while she worked at various jobs and volunteered at the public library. She received her master's degree in interdisciplinary studies from USD in May of 2008 and aspired to work towards her doctorate and become a librarian. Angela most recently was employed by Community Transition/Black Hills Workshop, where she was an administrative assistant and where she was embraced and made many dear friends in a short time.

Angela enjoyed the Broadway theatre, musicals, movies and had an extensive library of books, movies and movie posters.

The world is a better place for having had Angie in it.

Grateful to have shared her life are her mother, Debra Semple, Black Hawk; her father, Larry Semple of North Sioux City, S.D.; her maternal grandparents, Barbara Kelley of Hawarden, Iowa, and Ralph Newman of Piedmont, S.D.; two uncles, Dan (Linda) Newman of Lead, S.D. and Mike (Mary) Newman of Rapid City; two aunts, Kathy (Bernie) Harris of North Sioux City and Linda Sanchez of Sioux City; three cousins, Jeremiah Newman of Lead and Justin and Joshua Newman, both of Rapid City; and numerous beloved great-aunts, great-uncles, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her maternal step-grandfather, William Kelley; paternal grandparents, Gene and Betty Semple, a special great-aunt Carole Popken and great-grandparents, Curtis and Violet Newman.

A memorial has been established in her name.
