County engineer post not yet filled

Four applicants for the Woodbury County Engineer position have been interviewed, but it's unclear how soon the post could be filled.
County Engineer Richard Storm in late summer said he would retire by December after working for the county since 1994. The county supervisors hired the consulting firm HR-One Source of Johnston, Iowa, to screen the candidates, and on Nov. 17 and Nov. 18 four candidates were interviewed in closed session at the county courthouse.
J.D. Pellersels said Wednesday he could not specify if one candidate has emerged or would come back for another interview. Pellersels said he would not share some biographical information, without revealing their names, about the finalists.
"I would expect more information would be available sometime next week," he wrote in an e-mail.
Storm said he plans to work his last day on Dec. 31. Storm said the county engineer position requires a registered professional engineer designation, and no one currently working in the county department has that designation.
Storm's final year salary is $97,000, and Jack Lipovac of HR-One Source previously said the county could expect to pay from $90,000 to $110,000 for a successor.
