S.D. man arrested after police pursuit

ORANGE CITY, Iowa -- A South Dakota man was arrested Thursday on multiple charges after a pursuit by police in Sioux County.
On Wednesday, the Sioux County Sheriff's Office received a request from Brookings County, S.D., to assist in locating a stolen vehicle. The Sioux County Sheriff's Office said in a statement released Monday that South Dakota authorities believed that 34-year-old Sammy Lee Snyder might be driving a 1997 Oldsmobile Aurora en route to Rock Valley, Iowa, with a loaded shotgun.
At 1 a.m. Thursday, a Rock Valley police officer located the stolen vehicle and attempted to stop it. A pursuit ensued and officers from the Sioux Center and Rock Valley police departments, as well as the Sioux County Sheriff's Office and the Iowa State Patrol, followed Snyder's vehicle.
Officers deployed stop sticks, and the vehicle was disabled at the intersection of Highways 18 and 75, according to the sheriff's office.
Snyder was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Sioux County Jail on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, fourth offense; eluding a police officer, open container, fourth-degree theft, fourth-degree criminal mischief, third-degree burglary, trespassing, possession of stolen property, third-degree criminal mischief, criminal trespass, driving without a license, failure to obey a stop sign, unsecure load, excessive speed and failure to appear.
