DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - A Georgia man accused of killing an Alabama convenience store clerk during a robbery has been arrested at a south-central Iowa motel.

Law enforcement officials say a citizen's tip led them to 22-year-old Jesse Scheuing of Waycross, Georgia.

He was arrested tonight at the Red Carpet Inn in Knoxville. Officials say he was taken into custody without incident.

The arrest came hours after an Iowa State Patrol officer discovered an abandoned sport utility vehicle along Interstate 80 east of Newton.

The GMC Yukon was reported stolen after Scheuing allegedly robbed the Pak-A-Sak store in Oxford, Alabama on November 28th and fatally shot 27-year-old Sean Cook.

Officials say Scheuing is being held in the Marion County Jail pending extradition.
