JOHNSON CREEK, Wis. (AP) - The driver killed when his semitrailer slammed into an overpass abutment near Madison, Wis., has been identified as a South Dakota man.

The Wisconsin State Patrol said 38-year-old Jay Freeman Schoenberner of Canton hadn't been wearing a seat belt.

The crash occurred Thursday just before 2:45 p.m. It caused structural damage to the bridge overpass and left traffic snarled for nearly nine hours.

The bridge has been closed indefinitely.
