DES MOINES (AP) -- Dallas County is among the fastest growing counties in the nation.
U.S. Census Bureau estimates released Tuesday show that the county west of Des Moines had about a 40 percent increase in population from 2000 to 2007. That increase of roughly 57,000 people made Dallas County the nation's fourth fastest-growing mid-sized county.
Census data shows that the county's median age also has changed since 2000, from 35 to 33. Median home prices climbed to $168,000 in 2007 when adjusted for inflation.
