Posted: Thursday, December 18, 2008
OMAHA (AP) -- Chuck Hagel is traveling through Nebraska, thanking residents for sending him to serve 12 years in the U.S. Senate.

Hagel and his wife, Lilibet, were visiting Columbus, Norfolk, Ainsworth, Scottsbluff and North Platte on Wednesday.

Their itinerary Thursday includes stops in Grand Island, Kearney, Lincoln and Omaha.

Hagel, a Republican, opted against running for a third term. He will be replaced in Washington by former Nebraska Gov. Mike Johanns, also a Republican.

" I'm glad this sheep in wolf's clothing
is not returning to the US Senate. The
liberal Democrats already have enough
votes to do what they want. Perhaps
he can join his liberal friend, Tom Daschle in Washington as HHS under-
Sec. I'm sure Obama would appoint him
to this or some other high paying job.
He would fit right in with that bunch! "
