DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - At least four people have died in weekend crashes in Iowa.

A Coralville man was killed when the minivan he was driving was struck by a pickup truck on Iowa Highway 6 just east of Iowa City on Saturday.

The Johnson County sheriff's office says Gerardo Duran Molina of was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the van, Angel Montelongo Jr., of West Liberty, was taken to a hospital. A passenger in each vehicle also was injured and taken to a hospital.

Although conditions were icy and numerous other accidents were reported, officials say it's unknown if the weather was a factor in the crash.

Two people were killed in a crash early Sunday when their car hit a utility pole in Council Bluffs. A third person in the car was injured. No names have been released.

A fatal accident was also reported in Poweshiek County on Saturday but officials with the sheriff's office say no information had been released.
