Durham comments disappoint

SIOUX CITY -- I was quite disappointed as to what Debi Durham had to say in a story in Sunday's Journal. Maybe she should not speak about things she doesn't know about.
If unions are bad, why does the council want good union jobs in the city? Why is it bad for workers to have security in their jobs? Why should collective bargaining be bad for anybody? The right to work is truly a misnomer. Again, why would a union not want more people to represent? Why would people not want better insurance, wages, and benefits? If you want to talk about Fair Share, call me.
I met Debi when I was running for mayor and I thought she was a very smart person, but I guess I was wrong. It appears business runs this city as hard as some councilmen try to fight it. Debi is one of their leaders, I wish she was smarter when it comes to the facts. -- Jerry Moore

One that agrues "fair, fair, fair", and one that argues "more, more, more". I firmly believe laborers have the right to fair compensation, however, many CBAs today contain unfair demands. Unions are not an avenue to "stick the man". They are an avenue to receive rightful employee accomodation and this is where the problem lies. "
