ORANGE CITY, Iowa -- "Ballad Hunter," a play about three generations of Appalachian women, will be on stage Nov. 12 to 14 and 19 to 21 in the England Theatre at Northwestern College.
Set in the 1930s, "Ballad Hunter" chronicles a day in the life of Gussie (Susan Schoenrock); her mother, Hetty (Kylie Steinbach); and her daughter, Lotta (Greta Floding). During the course of the day, Gussie will revisit her past and the mysterious ballad hunter who appeared on the mountain one afternoon. Enchanted by Gussie' s singing, the hunter enchants her in return; then, disappears. Brady Greer Huffman and Dan Laird are the other cast members. Karen Bohm Barker directs the Jenny Laird play.
Tickets for "Ballad Hunter" are $7 for adults and $4 for students. Tickets are available at the door or can be purchased by visiting the box office between 4 and 9 p.m. Monday through Friday or between noon and 5 p.m. on Saturday.
