HURON, S.D. (AP) - The flooded James River at Huron is starting to take over some roads.
The city is closing Sherman Avenue on the east side of the river Tuesday morning.
The mayor says other streets and the Highway 14 business loop road might also be shut off to traffic in the next couple of days, depending on rainfall.
Town leaders plan to meet Wednesday with the National Weather Service to get an updated flood projection.
That could prompt the city to build temporary dikes later this week along Jersey Avenue to keep high water out of Memorial Park, where a baseball field and golf course are under construction.
