CEDAR FALLS -- Solon reeled off 53 unanswered points Saturday en route to a 60-14 win over Central Lyon/George-Little Rock in the Class 2A state championship game at the UNI-Dome.
Solon star tailback James Morris rushed for three touchdowns to lead the Spartans, who won the state title for a second straight year over the Lions. It was the third straight year the two teams have met for the state title. The Lions won two years ago.
Jordan Gacke drew first blood for the Lions on an 85-yard touchdown run. Central Lyon took a 14-7 lead with 11:24 left in the half before Solon went on its run.
Solon led 26-14 at halftime.
Solon beat CL/G-LR last year for the state. Two years ago, it was CL/G-LR over Solon for the state title.
