SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - Sioux Falls police say a man killed Monday likely bled to death after his girlfriend pulled a knife from his hand during an argument.
Cora Lynn McBride is charged with first-degree manslaughter for the death of Duane Red Bird.
Police spokesman Sam Clemens says both had been drinking and Red Bird was cut while trying to take a kitchen knife from McBride, who pulled the knife away and left a deep cut in Red Bird's palm.
Clemens said McBride waited before going to a neighbor's place to call 911.
An autopsy has been done but the results haven't been released to investigators.
According to the South Dakota Sex Offender Registry, McBride was convicted in 2003 in Pierre of attempted sexual contact with a woman.
