DES MOINES -- State public health officials say a Monona County resident is one of four Iowans who recently died from H1N1 influenza virus.

Iowa Department of Public Health spokeswoman Polly Carver-Kimm said the Monona County resident, who was not identified, died in the past few weeks.

The other victims included adults in Dubuque, Polk and Mills counties.

The Monona County resident was the only one of the four who did not have a medical condition increasing the risk of H1N1 complications, Carver-Kimm said.

Health officials say 11 people, including one child, have died from H1N1 in Iowa.

That number does not include the man who hospital officials in Sioux City said last week may have died of complications of H1N1. Officials at Mercy Medical Center -- Sioux City did not identify the victim, other than to say he was in his 20s and had been hospitalized for some time.

As of Wednesday, Carver-Kimm said there had been no confirmed cases of H1N1 causing a death in Woodbury County.

According to a statement from health officials Wednesday, school-age children still are most affected by H1N1. However, officials say they have noticed an increase in the virus' impact on adults.

Symptoms of H1N1 include a fever, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, body aches, headache, chills and fatigue.
