The Independent Riders for Childrens Charities motorcycle group isn't letting winter slow its mission of helping people in need.

The riders will hold a fundraising event to help an unnamed Siouxland family. All that's been disclosed is that the family is struggling and children are involved.

The event will kick off at 5 p.m. on Dec. 5 at the Ickey Nickel Bar & Grill, 4700 41st St. in Sioux City and is open to the public. "The more people we get, the better," said Karen Poulsen, secretary of the Independent Riders. Activities will feature various games, such as throwing darts, pin the ponytail on the biker and others, to raise fund. The band Hippie Go Lucky will play later in the evening.

If anyone would like to donate money or items to be used as door prizes, they may call Riders' president, Randall "Snowman" Luschen, at 712-540-3413, or bring them the day of the event.
