Government officials say the U.S. Census Bureau will hire thousands of people, including locally, in order to complete the 2010 Census.
The U.S. Census Bureau recently announced it will hire up to 35,000 people during peak times in its Kansas City Region, which includes Iowa, Missouri, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Minnesota and Kansas.
Locally, employees will be hired to work out of an office in Sioux City.
Positions that need to be filled include recruiting assistants, crew leaders, crew leader assistants and census takers, which pay $11.50 to $20 an hour. Additionally, the Bureau is also hiring census clerks, which are paid an hourly rate of $7.50 to $12.75.
