SIOUX CITY - Do you remember what you were doing 10 years ago?

Chances are you were getting your mojo goin' with "Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me," joining Ricky Martin in "Living La Vida Loca" or wondering what lifeline you'd use when Regis Philbin asked the immortal question: "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?

And if you were in Sioux City in November 1999, you probably noticed a new arts and entertainment weekly had hit the streets, calling itself the Weekender.

To celebrate its 10th birthday, the Weekender will host a "Party Like It's 1999," starting at 7 p.m. today at Rhonda's Speakeasy, 212 Cunningham Drive.

The public is invited to meet current and former staff members of Sioux City's only arts and entertainment newspaper, win prizes and enjoy the Siouxland Choice Award-winning Kelly Quinn Band, which will take the stage at 9:30 p.m.

The paper, whose mission is to "explore the arts, issues and people that shape Siouxland through in-depth reporting, sharp commentary and visually rich presentation with an alternative perspective," began life owned by Williams & Co. before being bought by the Journal in 2004.

In the past decade, the Weekender has offered an often irreverent glimpse at what's going around town through its tabloid, published each Thursday and available at more than 800 locations in Sioux City and other Siouxland communities, and through its interactive online calendar at siouxland.net.
