KEARNEY, Neb. -- No team in the United States Hockey League has been involved in more shootouts this season than the Sioux City Musketeers.

Ryan Carpenter and Danny Wurden slipped shots past Tri-City goaltender Carsen Chubak Wednesday night as the Musketeers won their fifth straight game as well as their third shootout of the season, 5-4 in front of a crowd of 1,969 at the Viaero Events Center. Coach Luke Strand's Musketeers, who were 8-8-1 heading into Thursday night's game at Sioux Falls, moved into a fourth-place tie with Tri-City in the USHL West, as each team has 17 points.

Winning goalkeeper Matt Skoff, who was playing for the first time in five games, stopped all four of the shots he faced in the shootout. Skoff, now 3-5-1, was involved in his second shootout of the season and denied shootout chances from Josh Berge, Radoslav Illo and Jaden Schwartz, players who scored goals at various stages of the game.

Stephan Vigier, the USHL's offensive player of the week, scored two goals and has collected six goals and one assist in the winning streak. Vigier's 10th goal of the season, a power-play shot 1:58 into the third period, gave the Musketeers a 2-2 tie, but Tri-City, which entered with a seven-game losing streaks, got back-to-back goals from T.J. Schlueter and Schwartz, 48 seconds apart, for a 4-2 lead.

Dan Ford scored midway through the third period to pull the Musketeers within a goal. Ryan Rashid sent the game into overtime on a shot assisted by Schmidt and Matt Pappe where an extra attacker was used with 26 seconds left in regulation.

Tri-City had dropped three overtime games this season, including last Saturday's 3-2 loss to Team USA. However, it was the Storm's first time in a shootout.
