JEFFERSON, S.D. - Kelly Boen took advantage of his outside front row starting position and led every lap to capture the win in the O'Reilly MLRA Best of the Midwest 40 at Park Jefferson Speedway Friday night.

Boen, a driver from Henderson, Colo., is a four-time and defending O'Reilly NCRA champion. He won his eighth career MRLA feature and captured his first feature win of 2009.

Boen was stalked the entire race by Al Purkey, a five-time MLRA champion and current MLRA point leader. Purkey fell just short of Boen at the finish line while Kyle Burke of Marquette, Neb., who started in third place, finished at that position.

Denny Eckrich, a two-time WDRL champion, finished fourth while defending MLRA champion John Anderson, who started in the 15th spot, worked his way up to finish fifth.

Boen's rocket chassis is powered by a Jay Dickens racing engine with sponsorship support from Road Runner Fabrication, AFCO Racing Products, Intensitee Custom Racewear, Race Wise Dirt Track Chassis School, Peterson Fluid Systems and Performance Bodies.

The 40-lap feature was worth $4,000 to win and was a make-up race for an event rained out July 3.
