RICHMOND, Va. -- The Indoor Football League board of directors has unanimously voted on the application of the Amarillo Dusters to join the growing league.

The Dusters recently completed their sixth indoor football season in 2009, competing most recently in af2. In Amarillo's inaugural 2004 campaign, it won the Intense Football League championship.

"This is a team that has always been known for creating an exciting product, a great deal of support from the Amarillo community and for their stability," said IFL commissioner Tommy Benizio. "We are thrilled to have the Dusters as part of the league and are excited about how well they fit in the IFL's geography."

Amarillo will be one of six teams competing in the Lonestar Division. The Austin Turfcats have also applied and looked to be accepted over the coming week to create a seventh Texas team.

"We thank all who were involved in this process," said Dusters owner and president Randy Sanders. "We're thrilled to be a part of the IFL. The league will provide our fans with high-octane, on-field action."

The IFL includes the Sioux City Bandits, who compete in the United Conference's Central Division.
